It is reported that the crack patch was made by a Russian hacker team called Blizzless, who started as a Diablo 3 emulator team and later began to crack some Blizzard games.
And recently someone released an offline patch for the game. Diablo 2 Resurrected is exclusive to on PC and requires regular online verification. It’s a high-definition remake of the original 2000 Diablo 2 screen and added more network features, and several update patches have been introduced since then.

Cross-progression: Thanks to this technology, Diablo II players can transfer their progress between different PCs and/or consoles (Xbox and PlayStation) and continue playing the game right where they left off. Improved compatibility: Probably the best new feature in this remastered version is the compatibility with Blizzard's service. The main character in Diablo II is on a mission to chase the Dark Wanderer and destroy the soulstone that has kept him possessed by Diablo's evil spirit. This is where the story of Diablo II begins. From this moment, the fallen hero will be known as the Dark Wanderer. 
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible idea, as Diablo's soul rapidly corrupted the hero. At the end of the story of Diablo I, Diablo is defeated by a hero who decides to drive Diablo's soulstone into his own head in an attempt to contain the feared devil in his own body.
